Priors Marston Parish Council
EMMA@PRIORSMARSTON.ORG
The Parish Council is the third tier of local government, after the County and District Councils, but is a non-political
body and is in the best position to represent the views of the local community.
Parish Councils are funded principally by an annual precept. The precept is added to council tax collected by the local authority and then is paid to parishes. Parish Councils can apply for other
funding such as grant funding and awards, but they do not receive funds direct from central government, as principal authorities do.
Parish Councillors are elected and co-opted residents of the parish and give their time on a voluntary basis.
They can problem solve at a local level and raise any relevant issues which can also be dealt with accordingly.
The Council members meet formally every other month, on a Tuesday evening, and the calendar of future meetings is as
follows.
